Website Settings

The Setup tab is where you customize the website’s appearance and decide which information should be visible and how updates are published.

Most core content is controlled from your artworks, exhibitions, categories, and profile. The Website settings are for the extra visibility choices that apply across the whole site.

Featured works

On the Overview tab, the Featured works card lets you select up to three artworks to highlight.

Turn on Show featured works, then choose the artworks in the order you want them displayed. When the switch is on and at least one artwork is selected, a Featured Works by [artist name] section appears at the very top of the Works page, above the category cards.

Turning the switch off hides the featured section without clearing your selection. Changing the switch or selected artworks is recorded as a website change, so publish an update if automatic updates are not enabled.

Appearance and layout

Main page

Main page controls what visitors see at the root of your website:

Works keeps the original structure. The main page shows your artworks.
Summary uses the main page for an overview of your profile, selected contact information, featured works (or your three most recent works), the opening paragraphs of your biography and artist statement, and up to three current or upcoming exhibitions. Each section links to its full page.

With Summary selected, the full artwork gallery moves to Works. Existing /works links remain usable if you switch back to the original Works main page.

The summary only includes content that is available and enabled in your other website settings. For example, hidden email addresses and telephone numbers are not displayed, and the exhibitions section is omitted when there are no current or upcoming public exhibitions.

Color theme

Choose one of four color themes:

Light Grey is the original Artlope website style, with a white and light-grey background.
Dark Grey uses charcoal backgrounds and light text.
Light Beige uses warm, light neutral colors.
Dark Beige uses deep brown and warm neutral colors.

Changing the theme updates the background, text, borders, buttons, and other supporting colors across the website.

Artwork image shape

Square keeps artwork preview images in square frames and shows the main image on artwork pages on a square background. Images are cropped in previews but contained in full on the artwork page.

Original aspect ratio displays artwork previews and main artwork images in their natural proportions without a square frame.

Choose how the categories on the Works page are displayed:

Cards keeps the current category cards with a preview image and artwork count.
List shows category names next to each other. Names wrap to additional lines when needed, but each category name stays together, and each name links to its category page.

The list display does not show the Categories heading.

Choose where the main menu appears. With the Summary main page, it includes Home, Works, Exhibitions, and About; with the Works main page, it includes Works, Exhibitions, and About.

Top right keeps the original layout.
Top center centers the menu at the top of the page.
Left side places the artist name and menu in a sidebar on larger screens.

On smaller screens, the left-side menu moves back to the top so the website remains easy to use.

Automatic updates

Automatically update website decides whether Artlope should publish relevant website changes for you after your website already exists.

When this is turned on:

the first website creation is still manual
Artlope checks for pending website changes regularly
the website is only updated when the newest pending change is at least 5 minutes old

This delay helps avoid unnecessary website rebuilds while you are still editing several things in one session.

If the switch is turned off, you keep full manual control and use the Update website button yourself.

Prices

Show prices decides whether artwork prices appear on artwork pages.

If this is turned off, artwork prices stay private even if you have filled them in on the artwork itself.

Sale information

Show sale information decides whether artworks can show sale-related labels on the website.

This helps visitors understand whether a work is still available or already sold or reserved.

If this is turned off, those labels stay hidden.

Done artworks

Show all done artworks decides whether finished and reserved artworks are included on the website by default.

If this is turned off, those artworks stay hidden unless you explicitly set an artwork to Always show.

Categories with artworks

Show all Categories with Artworks decides whether categories set to Based on website settings are included on the website by default.

Only categories with artworks that are visible on the website are included. A category can override this setting from its detail page with Never show or Always show.

Sold artworks

Show all sold artworks decides whether sold artworks stay visible on the website by default.

If this is turned off, sold artworks are removed from public pages unless you explicitly set an artwork to Always show.

Email address

Show email address decides whether email contact entries from your Profile can appear on the About page.

If this is turned off, your email stays hidden on the website even if it is stored in your profile.

Telephone number

Show telephone number works in the same way for phone contact entries from your Profile.

If this is turned off, telephone numbers stay hidden on the website.

Artwork gallery images

Show artwork gallery images decides whether additional artwork images appear below the main image on artwork pages.

This is useful when you want to show:

details
close-ups
framed views
installation views
process photos

If this is turned off, only the main artwork image is shown.

You can add a Public image description to each gallery image from the artwork’s Images tab. When gallery images are shown, the description appears below its image on the artwork page. Internal notes remain private and are never published.

Legal notice

Show legal notice adds a Legal notice link to the website footer.

When you turn it on, you can also fill in the legal notice text in the editor below the switch.

The legal notice content can include normal text, headings, lists, and links.

If the switch is turned off, the legal notice page does not appear in the footer.

What is always there

Some parts of the website are always included.

For example:

the main navigation (you can change its location and choose whether the main page is Works or Summary)
the Privacy policy link in the footer
the main content you chose to show from artworks, exhibitions, categories, and profile
