Creating And Browsing Categories

The Categories page shows all of your categories in one place.

Each category card can show:

  • a preview of artwork images from that category
  • the category name
  • the number of artworks in it

If a category has no artworks yet, the card stays empty until you add some.

Click the + button on the Categories page to create a new category.

When you create one, you can add:

  • Name
  • Description

Name is required.

Description is optional. It is useful when you want to note what the category is for, especially if you use categories for projects or longer-term bodies of work.

If a category with the same name already exists, Artlope will let you know and link you to it.

When your list grows, filters help you narrow it down.

You can filter by:

  • artwork count
  • website visibility
  • name

If you click Show more, you can also filter by:

  • category level
  • sort by
  • sort order

Artwork count helps you find categories with no artworks yet, exactly one artwork, or more than one artwork.

Website visibility helps you find categories that are shown on your website or kept private.

Name lets you search by category title.

Category level helps you separate top-level categories from sub-categories.

Sort by can use:

  • name
  • updated date

Sort order changes the direction of that sort.

If you no longer need the filters, use Reset.

If a category belongs inside another category, Artlope can show it with its parent in front, for example:

Paintings > Blue Series

This makes it easier to understand where a sub-category belongs when you browse the full list.
