Yearly Overview

The main Finances page is a year-by-year report for your art practice.

It is meant to give you a simple overview of what happened financially in a given year, without asking you to rebuild that picture by hand from artworks, exhibitions, or submissions.

At the top right of the page, you can choose which year to look at.

Artlope shows the years that already have finance entries in them.

This lets you move between past years and compare how your practice changed over time.

At the top of the page, you will see three summary cards:

  • Total Income
  • Total Expenses
  • Overall Sum

Total Income is the total of all income entries in the selected year.

Total Expenses is the total of all expense entries in the selected year.

Overall Sum is the result after expenses are subtracted from income.

If Artlope can convert the amounts into your main currency, these summary cards show the converted totals.

If there is not enough information for that, the card can show N/A.

Below the summary cards, Artlope lists the financial entries for the selected year in one table.

Entries are ordered by date, with the newest first.

The table shows:

  • Date
  • Description
  • Amount
  • Actions

Date is when the entry belongs financially.

Description tells you what the line item is. For some entries, this is a fixed label such as an artwork sale or a submission fee. For manual transactions, this is the text you entered yourself.

Amount shows the value of the line item.

Income is shown as a positive amount. Expenses are shown as a negative amount.

If the entry uses a different currency from your main one, Artlope can also show a second converted amount below it.

Actions is where edit and delete buttons appear for entries that can be managed directly from the Finances page.

Some finance entries are connected to another item in Artlope.

When that happens, the table can show a link under the description, such as:

  • an artwork
  • an exhibition
  • a submission

This makes it easier to move from the finance report back to the item that created the entry.

If a selected year has no finance entries yet, the page shows No entries yet.

This is useful when you want to check whether you already recorded activity for a given year.
