Controlling Website Content From Other Pages

Most website content is not written on the Website page itself.

Instead, your website pulls from the records you already keep up to date in Artlope. This makes it easier to keep your public website and your internal records aligned.

Artwork pages shape the Works section and the individual artwork pages on your website.

Each visible artwork can contribute:

  • title
  • year
  • materials
  • dimensions
  • description
  • main image
  • additional gallery images
  • exhibitions that include the artwork
  • price
  • sale or reservation status

Whether price, sale information, and gallery images appear also depends on your Website settings.

If the artwork is included in public exhibitions, those exhibitions can also appear on the individual artwork page.

By default, website visibility depends on your Website settings:

  • Show all done artworks
  • Show all sold artworks

Each artwork can also override that default from its Edit info tab:

  • Based on website settings
  • Never show
  • Always show

This means a planned artwork can still be shown if you set it to Always show, and a done artwork can still be hidden if you set it to Never show.

If an artwork has no main image yet, the page can still exist, but it will feel much stronger once the image is in place.

Exhibition pages control what appears in the website’s Exhibitions area.

The exhibition list page can show:

  • exhibition name
  • date range
  • venue
  • location

The individual exhibition page can also show:

  • external link
  • description
  • artist statement
  • title image
  • additional exhibition photos
  • public events
  • artworks in the exhibition

To make an exhibition public, turn on Show on website in the exhibition details.

If the exhibition has an external link, you can also decide separately whether that link appears on the public exhibition page.

For each event, you can also choose separately whether it should be shown on the website.

This is useful for openings, talks, workshops, drop-off dates, or pick-up dates.

If an exhibition includes artworks that are not visible on the website, those artworks are left out of the public exhibition page.

Categories help shape the public Works area.

When a category is shown on the website, it can appear as a category card and also as its own category page.

Each category can contribute:

  • name
  • description
  • artwork count
  • banner artwork
  • sub-categories
  • artworks in that category structure

Turn on Show on website in the category details to make the category public.

Banner artwork chooses the image that represents the category card. If you do not choose one, Artlope can fall back to another artwork from that category.

Sub-categories can also appear on the website. This lets you build a clear structure for larger bodies of work.

Your Profile shapes the About page on the website.

It can contribute:

  • your artist name
  • profile photo
  • biography
  • artist statement
  • contact information

Contact information can include different kinds of entries, such as:

  • social links
  • website links
  • email
  • telephone

Social and website links can appear directly on the About page when they are filled in.

Email and telephone entries depend on your Website settings. You can store them in your profile without showing them publicly.

When these parts come together, your website usually works like this:

  • Works shows artwork cards and public categories
  • each category can open its own page
  • each artwork can open its own page
  • Exhibitions shows public exhibitions
  • each public exhibition can open its own page
  • About shows your profile-based text and contact details

After changing any of this content, return to the Website page and update the website so the public version catches up.
