Connecting Notes To Your Work

Mentions are what connect a note to the rest of your Artlope workspace.

A note can mention one or more:

• artworks
• exhibitions
• categories
• submissions
• portfolios

For example, one research note could mention the artworks it inspired, the category used for the wider project, and the exhibition where the work will be shown.

Adding a mention

Open a note and find the Mentions section.

Use Add a mention to search your records. Results are grouped by record type and can include a year to help you distinguish items with similar names.

Choose the item you want to connect, then click Save on the note.

You can add several different record types to the same note. Each record can only be mentioned once in that note.

Opening a mentioned record

The mentions table shows the type, name, and year of each connected item.

Click a row to open that artwork, exhibition, category, submission, or portfolio directly.

Finding notes from a connected record

The connection also works in the other direction.

When an artwork, exhibition, category, submission, or portfolio is mentioned, its detail page shows a Notes mentioning this item section. Open a note there to return to the context, research, or plan associated with that record.

This is useful when you are looking at an artwork months later and want to recover the ideas or decisions behind it.

Removing a mention

Use the remove button beside a mention and confirm the removal, then save the note.

Removing a mention only removes the connection. It does not delete the note or the mentioned record.
